Log to Rec.709 LUTs for iPhone and cinema cameras, with a guide to which file goes where

The question behind most LUT trouble is simple: does this file go on my log footage, or after a conversion? In LUT Lab the folder and the file name answer it, and a one-page flowchart covers the rest.

138 .cube files for Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro and CapCut desktop.

LUT Lab: Log to Rec.709 LUTs for iPhone, Sony, Canon, Panasonic, Fujifilm, Blackmagic + 12 Looks

What you get

  • Conversions for 9 sources

Log to Rec.709, 33 and 65 point, for Apple Log (iPhone 15 Pro and 16 Pro), Apple Log 2 (iPhone 17 Pro), Sony S-Log3 with S-Gamut3.Cine, Panasonic V-Log, Canon Log 3, Fujifilm F-Log2 and F-Log2 C, Blackmagic Film Gen 5, and iPhone HDR (HLG) video.

  • 12 looks

Clean, Bright, Warm, Film Print, Soft Film, Teal Orange, Moody, Cold, Vintage, Night, Mono and Noir, for Rec.709 footage.

  • 108 one-step files

Every look combined with every camera, so a log clip needs one file. Named like AppleLog_to_709__Look-Warm.cube.

  • READ ME FIRST PDF

A flowchart for which file to use, plus steps for Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro and CapCut: where the LUT goes, the order, where to install the files, and how to fix grey, washed-out iPhone HDR clips.

  • LUT Lab Previewer

One HTML file that runs offline. Drop in a frame from your footage, pick your camera and compare every look with a before and after split and a strength slider. It opens any other .cube file too.

  • Built from published curves

Each conversion uses the manufacturer's published log curve and colour space, through the open-source colour-science library. Neutral greys stay neutral, and colours outside Rec.709 are compressed smoothly instead of clipping.

Who it is for

  • iPhone 15 Pro, 16 Pro and 17 Pro owners who shoot Apple Log
  • Sony, Canon, Panasonic, Fujifilm and Blackmagic shooters who edit in Premiere, Resolve, Final Cut or CapCut
  • Editors who get log footage from several cameras and want it to match

How it works

  1. 1

Unzip LUT-Lab.zip and open READ ME FIRST.pdf. Page 1 tells you which file goes on your clip.

  2. 2

For log or iPhone HDR video, take one file from 3 Log to look, in your camera's folder. For normal video, take a look from 2 Looks.

  3. 3

Load it in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro or CapCut as the guide shows.

Questions

Which iPhone file do I need?

iPhone 15 Pro and 16 Pro record Apple Log. iPhone 17 Pro records Apple Log 2, which has its own files. Normal iPhone HDR video uses the iPhone HLG files when it looks grey in your app.

Do I need to convert first?

Only for log or HDR footage. Use a conversion from folder 1 and then a look, or one file from folder 3 that does both. Normal Rec.709 video takes a look from folder 2.

My editing app already converts log. Can I still use these?

Yes. Keep the app's conversion and use the looks from folder 2, or turn the app's conversion off and use ours. The guide shows both routes for each app. Never use both conversions at once.

Is DJI D-Log M included?

No. DJI has not published the curve, so we do not guess one. The guide shows how to use DJI's free D-Log M LUT followed by our looks.

Can I use them in client work?

Yes. Use them in your own and client videos. Please do not share or resell the files.

Can I try it first?

Yes. LUT Lab Lite is free: the previewer, the Apple Log conversion and two looks.
