Habit Tracker: 12-Month Spreadsheet with Streaks for Excel and Google Sheets

What you get

  • 12 month tabs

A daily grid for up to 20 habits with the done count, rate, current streak and best streak of each, a daily score, a chart of the month and a note line for every day.

  • Streaks that carry over

31 January and 1 February are one run, and today does not break a streak until the day is over.

  • Weekly goals

Set how many days a week each habit aims for, so a three times a week habit can reach 100%.

  • Year dashboard

Every habit's rate per month as a heatmap, check-ins, best streak, current streak and a completion chart.

  • Year in pixels

The whole year as one square per day, and any single habit's year when you pick it.

  • Three files

The tracker, a dark edition, and an example with 8 sample habits ticked from January to October.

Who it is for

  • People building a routine who want to see the streak
  • Anyone tracking habits that are not daily, such as the gym three times a week
  • Spreadsheet fans who would rather not use another app

Questions

Can I track a habit that is not daily?

Yes. Set Days a week on the Setup tab, for example 3 for the gym. Its rate then compares with three days a week.

I am starting in the middle of the year.

Set Start tracking on in Setup. Earlier days do not count against your rates.

Can I use checkboxes?

In Google Sheets, select the day cells and choose Insert, then Checkbox. In Excel, type x or pick the tick. Both count the same.

What about next year?

Save a copy, clear the ticks and notes, and set the new year on Setup.

Which versions of Excel work?

Excel 2016 or newer on Windows and Mac, including Microsoft 365. Google Sheets: in Google Drive choose New, then File upload, pick the file, open it and choose File, then Save as Google Sheets.
