A clipboard history manager for Windows that keeps text, images and files

Copied something ten minutes ago and copied over it since? PasteDrop keeps it. Press Ctrl+Shift+V, or hold Ctrl+V for a moment, and your recent copies open right where you are typing. Type a few letters, press Enter, and it is pasted into the app you were in.

Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit. Saved only on your PC.

PasteDrop: Clipboard History Manager for Windows

What PasteDrop does

  • Text, pictures and files

Text keeps its formatting when the app copied it, and Shift+Enter pastes it as plain text. Screenshots show as thumbnails. Files and folders copied in File Explorer paste back as real files into folders, chats and email.

  • Up to 1,000 copies, across restarts

Keep the last 50 to 1,000 copies, your choice, plus everything you pin. Each copy shows the app it came from, and when.

  • Opens where you type

The list opens at your text cursor, or at the mouse. Type to search, pick with the arrow keys and press Enter. A quick Ctrl+V still pastes as usual.

  • Pins

Ctrl+P pins an item. Pinned items stay on top and are never trimmed: your address, a standard reply, a code snippet.

  • Fast with the keyboard

Ctrl+1 to Ctrl+9 paste the first nine items, Shift+Delete removes one and Esc closes the list. Pick your own shortcut in Settings.

  • Passwords stay out

Copies that apps mark as private, as password managers do, are skipped without being read. 1Password, Bitwarden, KeePass, LastPass and other password managers are on the skip list from the start.

Who it is for

  • Writers, marketers and support teams who paste the same replies, links and snippets all day
  • Developers who copy commands, code and error messages between windows
  • Anyone who has lost a copied link by copying something else over it

Questions

Windows already has Win+V. Why PasteDrop?

Win+V keeps 25 items, clears the unpinned ones when you restart and does not keep files. PasteDrop keeps up to 1,000 items across restarts, including files, and opens where you are typing.

Is there a Maccy or Ditto like this for Windows?

Maccy is a clipboard manager for the Mac only, and PasteDrop is the same idea built for Windows. Ditto is a free, open-source Windows clipboard manager with a long list of options. PasteDrop is smaller: one searchable list at your cursor, pins, and password managers skipped from the start.

Is my clipboard history uploaded anywhere?

No. History is saved only on your PC and nothing is sent anywhere. There is no account and no analytics. You can pause recording from the tray in one click.

What about passwords from my browser's password manager?

Those copies come from the browser itself. Pause recording before you copy one, or add your browser to the skip list.

Is this a subscription?

No. You pay once and keep it. Use it on all of your own computers, and every 1.x update is free.

Windows shows a blue warning when I install it.

PasteDrop comes from an independent developer and is not code-signed yet, so the first time you run the installer Windows may say "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway.
