Questions
How is it different from online file converters?
Online converters upload your file to their server and send a copy back. ShiftDrop converts on your own computer, so the file never leaves it and conversions work without internet. The only download is the free ffmpeg engine for video and audio, once, when you click Install.
Will it change my original file?
Never. The result is always a new file saved next to the original.
Does it work on Windows and Mac?
Yes. One purchase covers Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit) and macOS 12 or later on Apple Silicon or Intel. Use it on all of your own computers.
Is this a subscription?
No. You pay once and keep it. Use it on all of your own computers, and every 1.x update is free.
Windows shows a blue warning when I install it.
ShiftDrop comes from an independent developer and is not code-signed yet, so the first time you run the installer Windows may say "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway.
My Mac says ShiftDrop cannot be opened.
ShiftDrop is not notarized by Apple yet, so the first time you open it macOS says it cannot be opened. Open System Settings, Privacy and Security, and click Open Anyway. Then allow ShiftDrop under Accessibility so it can see your drags.
