Send files between your PC and your phone over Wi-Fi, with one QR code

Drag files to the edge of your screen, scan the code with your phone camera, and they are on your phone. Send photos and videos back the same way. No app to install on the phone, no cable, no cloud account, no emailing files to yourself.

Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit. Any iPhone or Android, no app needed.

ScanDrop: Send Files Between PC and Phone with a QR Code

What ScanDrop does

  • Both directions

PC to phone and phone to PC, in one session.

  • Any phone

It works in the phone's normal browser, on iPhone and Android.

  • Big files

Full-length videos play right on the phone before you save them.

  • Download all

Save a whole batch on the phone as one ZIP.

  • Tidy

Files from the phone land in Downloads\ScanDrop with one notification.

  • Private by design

Files travel straight across your own Wi-Fi and never touch a server. Each session has its own secret link, only the first phone that scans it can connect, and it closes itself after 15 minutes without activity.

Who it is for

  • iPhone owners with a Windows PC, where AirDrop does not reach
  • Anyone who emails or messages files to themselves to get them onto a phone
  • People moving photos and videos off a phone without a cable

Questions

Is this AirDrop for Windows?

AirDrop only works between Apple devices. ScanDrop does a similar job between a Windows PC and any iPhone or Android phone: it runs in the phone's browser over your own Wi-Fi, with nothing to install on the phone.

Do I need an app on my phone?

No. The phone's camera opens a page in its browser and that is all.

Does it need internet?

No. It only needs your PC and phone on the same local network.

Will it work on office or hotel Wi-Fi?

Guest and some company networks block devices from seeing each other. On those, use your home network or your phone's hotspot.

Is this a subscription?

No. You pay once and keep it. Use it on all of your own computers, and every 1.x update is free.

Windows shows a blue warning when I install it.

ScanDrop comes from an independent developer and is not code-signed yet, so the first time you run the installer Windows may say "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway.
